Newspaper Notice

Below are two "samples" of the formats of typical notices in our local newspapers. Of course, please revise the text to fit your own ideas. We can advise you of current costs for local papers and of their deadlines. Our own website is provided at no charge to our families for posting life stories and pictures. It includes a guestbook which can be signed from anywhere in the world, as well as space for condolences and lighting a memory candle.  

You may do an obit in the comfort of your home and email it to us at frontdesk@havenrest.com. However we are always willing to help you put it together if you feel uncertain or would just like encouragement in the process. Photos can also be emailed to us or brought in for us to scan for you.

Jane Carol Orr, born February 16, 1930, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family, September 13, 2004. After graduating from high school, Jane met John Orr. Jane is survived by her sons: Thomas J. (Ida), Gregory J., David M., Martin G. and his daughter Michelle, John P.; daughters Mary T. (Wayne) Johnson, their two sons, Ryan and Eric, Ellen M. Kathryn A. (John) and their two daughters, Kelsi and Alexandria: two sisters and numerous nieces and nephews. Jane is preceded in death by her husband, John Orr, November 22, 1995. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thurs, Sept. 16, 2004. 11 AM at the Holy Cross Catholic Church, Private burial, Friday, Sept. 17, at Haven of Rest Memorial Park.

Mildred Stebbins, Died October 28, 2005 at the age of 95. She was born March 22, 1910, Devils Lake, ND. Mom was spunky, positive and full of life. In 1926 she worked at the Pantages Theatre as an usherette and then became part of a group called "The Sleepy Time Gals". She was "Miss Oakes" of South Tacoma. She is survived by daughters Susan Rutt (Frank), Kathleen Phillips, five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, two nieces. She loved people and showed great kindness. We loved her and will miss her so much. A private family service is planned for a later time.
