Aileen, with her sisters Shelarose, Bernadine and half-brother, Lloyd, were born and raised in a Christian home in Seattle. Outside of school, church attendance and piano lessons, the family enjoyed annual vacations to Long Beach, Washington, which Aileen continued to enjoy visiting throughout her life. Aileen graduated from Lincoln High School in Seattle, WA in 1951 and soon went to work as a secretary for a downtown Seattle insurance company. On New Year’s Eve 1953 Aileen married Vance F. Lawrence, a veteran of the U.S. Navy that served in the Korean War. Vance and Aileen had 4 children: Michel (1955), Retta (1958), Ron (1961) and Darren (1965). They raised their family in the Seattle-Tacoma areas. Aileen loved to sew and was an excellent seamstress, making clothes for herself and her children. Eventually she was employed with Wade’s Custom Drapery in Tacoma making custom draperies for their accounts. She worked there until her retirement. Aileen had a deep love for family, especially when her grand babies came along. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband after he retired.
