Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Meier family. I had the good fortune to hire on with Al in 1982. That association changed my life in so many positive ways. He was a wonderful example of the American promise that hard work, honesty and humility still mattered. I will forever consider Mr. Meier a mentor and friend that made a big difference in this world and my life.

We had the privilege to meet and get to know Al on a couple of occasions, at the reunions of the crew members and families of the USS South Dakota. Such a kind man, I know he will be missed by many. Rest peacefully, Al, and thank you for your service to our country. Deepest condolences to his family and friends.

I met Al through the organization he had such a passion, Hoo-Hoo International. Over the years meeting up at the annual convention, we would share dinner, talked about life and laugh. He was a man of great faith and conviction. If he was mistaken, he would simply state it, apologize and move forward. Something we all could learn from. He had no problem sharing his life with others and his secret to success. He touched my life. I became Snark of the Universe (President) in 2016. I called Al several weeks ago to see how he was doing and he was in awe! Couldn't believe the Snark had taken the time to call him. Just like Al. Humble and sweet. We laughed and spoke of meeting up in Seattle this September. I will miss Al very much. He truly made an impact on my work ethic and desire to impact others. God Bless and comfort his dear family and friends.

We had the privilege to know Al since the 80's when we lived in Federal way Washington State for 12 months. Al provided exceptional support to our family while living in the United States. We have managed to maintain contact with Al and Georgia since that time and valued our friendship. Al was a kind and generous man and we will miss him. Love and condolence to Georgia.

The Miller family would like to send our most heart-felt condolences to Al's entire family and Al's huge "family" of friends. I had the opportunity to work with Al for about 9 years. He taught me a lot, and mentored me in the building material business. I will never forget him. Our prayers are with the Meier's.

So sorry about Albert, he was a man amongst men. He went from poverty in SD to a successful businessman in Washington. He was a proud sailor, and always remembered his roots. Always enjoyed him when he came to SD. Take care and cherish the memories.
