Carol Erickson

10/1/1929 - 4/26/2017

Lillian Carol Erickson passed through heaven’s gates April 26, 2017.  She was the second daughter of Hazel Marie (Drake) and William Bradley McCrerey, born October 1, 1929 in Saltillo, Pennsylvania.

Carol was a loving daughter, sister, mother, wife, grandmother, great-grandmother, teacher and a good friend to many. She was a loving and caring primary school teacher for 28 years and upon retirement worked as a MOPS teacher and eventual lead for that program at Camano Chapel on Camano Island.  Carol was a dedicated and loving volunteer working as a Domestic Violence Advocate, Peer Advocate, Blue Bird and Boy Scout leader for her children, Sunday School teacher as well as an adult bible group member. In her later years, she was a very active member of the Quiet Forest Park HOA’s Social Committee. She always loved a party!

Carol’s dedication and strong faith in God helped her through life’s many challenges and her life examples have been an awesome inspiration for her children and friends alike.

Carol enjoyed reading, quilting, baking, gardening, cardmaking and many joyous visits with her loving family.  She enjoyed traveling - visiting Europe many times, the Caribbean, Central and South America as well as many trips to Hawaii, Alaska and other states within the US.

She is survived by her loving family: Children - Pamela Walker (Howard “Bud”) of Gig Harbor; Timothy Varner (Kathy) of Wasilla, Alaska; Robin (Ronda) Varner of Marysville; Lisa Isaacs (Tony) of Fox Island; Jeffrey (Jennifer) Varner of Duvall; Amy Krause (Keith) of Olympia; Shelly Varner of Burlington; 9 loving grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren with another on the way; and Siblings Evelyn Dymond (Brian) of North Carolina; Kathryn Walters and William McCrerey of Florida; brother-in-law Harold Best of Pennsylvania. She also leaves behind a large contingency of loving nieces and nephews as well as many dear friends.

Carol is preceded in death by her loving husbands Edison Drange and Phillip Erickson as well as her sweet sisters, Dorothy Best and Mary Harry.

The family wishes to give special thanks to her loving and dear caregiver, Ginny Dashiell.  And to the kind and caring staff at both the DaVita St. Joseph Dialysis Center at Point Fosdick and the Cottesmore Life Care Center, both of Gig Harbor.
