Charl Blackwood, 95, went to be with her Lord on November 26, 2016. A native of Gig Harbor/Purdy since August 27, 1921. She taught and counseled in the Peninsula School District for many years. Charl loved Jesus, her church and her family. She was an avid sports fan and had a heart for the poor and needy.
She was preceded in death by husbands Ray Mansen Sr. and Stanley Blackwood, daughter Karen Carlson and step son John Blackwood. Charl is survived by son, Ray Mansen Jr; daughter Lynne Blackwood; 8 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren.
A celebration of Charl’s life will be at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Tacoma, WA on Saturday, December 10th at 1:00 pm. Memorial gifts may be made to Grace Presbyterian Church (Gig Harbor, WA). Please visit www.havenrest.com to sign her guestbook with memories and condolences for the family.
