Dolores Jean Arscheene was born May 6, 1930 in Detroit Michigan. In 1943, Dolores became a born again Christian She graduated from Port Huron High school in 1948, and then attended Detroit Bible College, and graduated from Grand Rapids Bible College in 1952. In 1952 until 1970 she was a Rural (USA) Missionary. In 1956 Dolores married Arnold Arscheene. 1970 she graduated from Pacific Lutheran University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. Taught in public school and substituted in Pierce County in 1970 until 1971. 1972 until 1986 she was the director of the Woman’s Shelter Hope Guest Home. In 1986 until 1990 she was director of the Woman’s Shelter at the YMCA in Tacoma, Washington. In 1989 until 2006 she was a private counselor for domestic violence. In 1991 until 1993 was the executive director of Tillicum Community Center. In 1993 until 1995 director of Lakewood Area Shelter for Homeless Association. She received the “Courageous Woman of the Year Award” from the city of Tacoma in 1999.
She is preceded in death by her husband Arnold Arscheene, her son Danny Joe Arscheene and, parents, Abner and Christine Bailey; brother Ernest Bailey; sisters Virginia Colden (Leo), Shirley Munroe (Stan), and Valera Hindes (Donald). She is survived by her son Craig Arscheene (Connie), and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dolores was known for her great sense of humor and warm personality. Her life was dedicated to serving others through her work in Christian Ministry, and a lifetime of work in the area of social service throughout the United States.
She is loved deeply by all who knew her. Rest assured we will see you again mom.
