Gordon W. Bisberg born 2/22/26 & passed away 9/27/15. Born and raised in Tacoma, he graduated from Lincoln High School. Gordy was an expert mechanic following his father into the trade before World War II. During the war he served aboard the USS Monterey CVL-26 during the Pacific Campaign and he took great pride in his service.
Gordy always worked a full time auto mechanic job while also teaching the trade at Bates Vocational School. He was always enthusiastic about sharing his experience with others and always had time to help. No matter what the machine, Gordy could always get it running & keep it running. It could be a machine on an aircraft carrier or a brush grinder.
Known throughout the Studebaker collector’s community, he restored several after the factory closed, one all the way to show winner.
Gordy was an avid motorcyclist from pre-war until his marriage, riding Ariel singles & square fours exclusively.
Pre-deceased by his wife Donna he is survived by his daughters Gordenia (Cookie) Rychlec, Brenda (Tyke) Coyne (Gary), Terri (Spooky) Gazabat (Jean). Three grandsons Richard Moller, Jr., J.L. Gazabat, Jack Gazabat. Great Granddaughter Emily Moller.
In his later years Gordy found great comfort & companionship with his partner Barbara Moe. Many thanks to her for her great care of Gordon.
Gordy was a classic example of our greatest generation.
Fortunately, his daughters were able to be with him at the moment he passed.
Funeral Service & Interment at Haven of Rest, Gig Harbor, Saturday October 3rd 11:00. Reception to follow at Anthony’s in Gig Harbor.
