Joseph L. Terenzi

“Brooklyn Joe”

3/19/1928 – 10/23/2016

Our beloved dad, Joe Terenzi, age 88, passed away after a long, valiant battle with Alzheimer’s disease.  He, along with his twin brother Larry, was born in Brooklyn, NY to a large Italian family of 7 boys and 1 girl.  Joe joined the US Army and was stationed in post-war Germany.   It was there he met and married his beloved wife, Edith (Edie) in 1949.  They returned to the US and eventually settled on Long Island, NY where they raised their three daughters.  Joe retired from the New York City Transit Authority in 1990 and he and Edie moved to Gig Harbor, WA to be near their family.  Retirement allowed Joe to spend time with family and friends, travel and do volunteer work at Tacoma General Hospital, MultiCare Gig Harbor Medical Park and the Gig Harbor Library. He was also an active member of St Nicholas Catholic Church, Gig Harbor.

Joe was predeceased by his wife Edie (1995) his parents, five of his brothers and his sister.  He is survived by his twin brother Larry, his daughters, Christina, Patricia (Brian), Joanne (Robert), grandson Michael Morales (Kayla), four great-grandchildren, his loving companion Janet Wilcox and many nieces, nephews and friends.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Brookdale Gig Harbor and Brookdale Harbor Bay Memory Care along with Franciscan Hospice and MultiCare’s Dr Stephen Kramp for the loving care, concern and support you gave not only to our dad – but to our whole family.  As dad would say…..it was “poifect!”

Private services will be held at a future date – please see full memorial at www.havenrest.com

“Brooklyn Joe” was a big, strong, handsome guy who fiercely loved his family.  His gregarious personality and gift for making others smile will always be remembered.  He will be missed by all, but we take comfort in the thought that he is now reunited with his wife, his Mama & Pop and brothers and sister up in heaven.  They are pouring the wine and passing around the cannolis.

Ciao Dad…..riposare in pace.
