Margaret Elizabeth (Howlett) Banks

Beloved by her family Margaret Elizabeth Banks, age 78 passed away peacefully on November 19, 2015. A recent resident of Gig Harbor, she lived previously in Marysville, Snohomish and Bellevue. 

Margaret was born in Hull, Yorkshire, England on November 7, 1937 and grew to adulthood there in a close relationship with her sister Sybil. She loved bicycling to the seashore with her sister and friends and during her school years was captain of the girls' basketball team. After graduating from school she worked as a sales associate for the Woolworth Company's store in Hull until her marriage. She proudly became the wife of Geoffrey M. Banks, who preceded her in death, and they were married for 57 years. She was a loving and generous mother to 4 children: Lesley Mattson of Gig Harbor, Geoff Banks (deceased), Gillian Banks of Whidbey Island and Ian Banks of Arizona. She had 5 granddaughters: Sara Green, Kristen Wilson, Tiffany Randell (deceased), Meghan Lockleer and Emma Lockleer and 5 great-granddaughters: Cameron and Lauren Green and Makayla, Sloane and unborn baby girl Wilson, and 1 great-grandson Jace Green. She also leaves son-in-law Kregg Mattson and grandsons-in-law Jesse Green and Jake Wilson. Also sister Sybil MacDonald and husband Gordon in England, their son and daughter Neil and Vikki and their families.

Funeral service will be Monday, November 30th at 11am in Haven of Rest Funeral Home, Gig Harbor. A graveside service will follow in the Memorial Park. Please sign the online guest register book with favorite memories and condolences for the family at www.havenrest.com.
