Mark Warren Smith (Smitty), 63, passed away peacefully at home in Gig Harbor, Washington on September 13, 2017. He was born in San Antonio, Texas on January 10, 1954. He was deeply loved and will be missed dearly by his family and friends.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents Grayson and Fritzie Smith.  He is survived by his brothers Rod, Greg, Reed, Scott, his sister Carla Adams and many “Brother/Sister” cousins.

Mark’s father was career Army and Mark spent his life traveling the world with the family and later in his career with the Merchant Marine where he worked his way up from Able Bodied Seaman to Chief Steward.  His flare for cooking was only surpassed by his flare for life. Mark graduated from Lakes High School in 1972 while his father was stationed at Madigan Army Medical Center. He had a fondness for Hawaii having spent several of his formative years learning the culture there before finally landing in the Northwest.

Mark was generous with his time, resources, and vast experience, to friends and family alike. Called friend by those around the world from Singapore, across the mainland, to Hawaii and beyond, his charm and wry wit were always welcome. He was a precious and timeless gift to everyone whose lives he touched. For all, the void will never be completely filled, so the joy of memories past will have to suffice. Our hearts will never be the same, but better, for having loved him.

Funeral services will be held at Haven of Rest Memorial Park in Gig Harbor, Washington on Saturday October 7th at 10:00 a.m.

A celebration of life Hawaiian style will be held later the same day from 6:00pm to 9:00pm at The Club @ The Boatyard -- 3117 Harborview Dr., Gig Harbor, WA.
