Richard Rhodes Albertson

July 29, 1932 ~ April 4, 2016 (age 83) 83 Years Old


Richard Rhodes Albertson passed into the arms of our Savior Jesus Christ on April 4, 2016 he was 83 years old. He fought a brave fight but after a long illness, succumbed to heart failure.

Richard was born in Helena Montana on July 29, 1932 to Mercedes Albertson and Phillip Albertson.  He is survived by his wife Jean Rae Albertson of 40 years, his Step-Son Scott Thomas Wanner wife Gina Wanner, Step-Daughter Denise Mechelle Dal Vera husband Rocco Dal Vera, Granddaughters Emma Lynn Wanner and Kendall Anne Dal Vera.  He was preceded in death by his siblings, Phillip Albertson, Maurice Albertson, and Karin Albertson Hyatt.

After graduating from the University of Oklahoma he served with the United States Military (Army) during the Korean War.  As Captain, he was stationed at Ft. Sills in Oklahoma and served as Artillery Officer and was often appointed as both Defense and Prosecuting Officer for special court martial cases.  After serving his country he worked for his Uncle Joe in the family business, Albertson’s Grocery Stores. He then worked for United Grocers followed by Fleming Foods as their Marketing Director. Later, post retirement, he went back to school attending John F. Kennedy University in California to receive his Doctorate Degree in Law.

He loved his church. As an active member of the men’s Bible study and Back Up Buddies program as well as the “Fearless Leader” of his Cove group at Chapel Hill, he also served as President of his Homeowner’s Association at The Lakes. He lived a full life and loved to sing, boat, fish and fly. A loving Son, Father, Brother, Husband and Loyal Friend, he will be in our hearts forever.

Services will be held at Chapel Hill Church on April 30th at 1:00 PM, Tahoma National Cemetery Monday May 2 at 10:00 AM.
