Rose Ann Mancuso, 76, of Kissimmee FL and long-time resident of Gig Harbor, WA passed away on January 10th, 2019. Born in Chicago IL, she was raised by Edmund and Rose Kahmark who taught her an exceptional work ethic as they owned their own businesses and provided her a loving and strong life foundation. She met and married Vito Mancuso with whom she started a family in Worth IL. The family moved to Gig Harbor in 1977. In retirement, she continued to be a world traveler. Between her international travels, she shared time between her primary home in Kissimmee FL and her visiting home in Gig Harbor, WA.
Rose was a phenomenal mother and grandmother (Mema) to her family and a friend to all. She retired as a supervisor at the Pierce County Sheriff and Tacoma Police Department’s Law Enforcement Support Agency after 26 years of faithful service. She was an oil painting artist throughout her life and won countless awards for her still life, portraiture and scenic paintings. A skilled photographer, she especially enjoyed photographing people and places around the world. With a sense of wanderlust, she traveled to all but one continent and throughout the United States. She was also an avid roller skater, enjoying music and friends. She was a fierce patriot, proud of all three of her children’s choices to serve in the U.S. Military.
Preceded in death by her husband Thomas Robert “Bob” Brooks, she is survived by her children, Vincent Mancuso (Sherry Chappell) of Washington DC, Nicholas Mancuso of Tigard OR, and Lisa Craig (David) of Kathleen GA, step children Bob Brooks (Kaaren) of Seabeck WA and Brian Brooks of Bremerton WA, her grandchildren Caley Rappa of Gainesville FL, Alex Rappa of Tampa FL, Dominick Mancuso of Tigard OR and Nathan Mancuso of Tigard OR, as well as her brother Edward Kahmark of Chicago, IL and her Aunt Betty Juricic of Kissimmee FL. She loved her nephews, nieces, extended family and her dearest friends.
Family and friends are invited to join together to remember her at a viewing and memorial service at Haven of Rest Memorial Chapel in Gig Harbor on January 17. Rose's viewing will begin at 5 p.m. with services to begin at 7:00 pm. Her funeral mass will be held at St. Nicholas Catholic Church at 10:00 on 18 Jan, then laid to rest directly afterward at Haven of Rest.
