 Angie Joan Picchi

 

Born Angelina Joan Tognotti June 11th, 1928 in Dos Palos California.  Entered the Gates of Heaven at the age of 91 as Angie Joan Picchi on October 28th, 2019 from Gig Harbor Washington.

Angie was the third and youngest child of Italian immigrants Alfredo Tognotti and Albertina Fredianni.  She attended Dos Palos High School where she graduated in 1944 at the age of 16 having skipped a grade.  She immediately went to work for Bank of America as a check payer and 49 years later retired from Bank of America as Vice President Manager. Angie was the fifth highest ranking female at Bank of America at the time of her retirement. She had also previously been President of Bank of America Club, a Woman’s organization sponsored by Bank of America. Always active in the community she was President of Altrusa while working.  Soon after her retirement Angie moved to Gig Harbor, WA with her son Kevin and his family.

Angie was married June 5th,1949 at the age of 21 to Henry Picchi of Firebaugh CA. Seven years later Angie gave birth to her only child on June 2nd, 1956, Kevin Mark Picchi.

Angie was an avid traveler having visited 85 countries in her lifetime and although she visited Italy, the land of her ancestors many times her two favorite countries were Poland and Tahiti. She also traveled extensively in the United States having visited most of the 50 States.

In retirement Angie was active in the Gig Harbor Community participating in Altrusa, New Neighbors, The Gig Harbor Film Festival and participating in Book Club, Bridge, Canasta and Mahjong groups.  She also loved attending Rainer’s Baseball, the Tacoma Music Playhouse and the Seattle Symphony. Very independent Angie was still driving at 91, stopping only a few weeks before her death. She had a true love of life.

Angie is survived by her son Kevin Picchi of Phoenix AZ, her granddaughters Janine Arnold of Tacoma WA, Angelica Kirks of Auburn WA and Kassandra Picchi of Seattle WA.

The Celebration of Angie’s extraordinary life will take place on December 2nd, 2019 at 11 AM at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Gig Harbor, WA.  All are welcomed to attend. There will be a funeral Mass followed by a 2-hour reception where her friends are encouraged to share stories and speak about Angie’s life.

The Family requests that in lieu of flowers that donations be made in her name to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital. This can be done online at stjude.org.
