Armond (Mac) C. McIrvin

Beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully March 24, 2017 at home surrounded by family.

He was born October 1, 1932 in Felida, WA. He was the 6th of 8 children born to Earl J. McIrvin and Maud McIrvin.

After graduating from Felida High School, he enlisted in the Air Force in 1949, and proudly served for over 27 years, traveling to many foreign countries and Vietnam.

During his time in Germany, he met his wife Adelheid. They were married on February 15, 1966 in Ramstein, Germany. They had a loving marriage for 51 years.

In 1976 he retired from active duty as a Msgt, structural engineer for the 62nd CES Squadron at McChord AFB, WA. He held other various jobs after the Air Force to include PAN AM and 62nd CES as a civilian. After retirement Armond enjoyed traveling to Germany to visit family, summer vacations at the beach with all his grandkids, and bowling with the 62nd CES bowling team.

He was preceded by his parents, his brothers Harlen, Herbert Laverne, Merwyn, Art and Alvin, and his oldest sister Vernette. He is survived by his wife Adelheid, his sister Judy (Phil), his sister-in-law Joyce, his two daughters Jacqueline (Frank), Kirsten (Richard), grandchildren Erich, Travis, Karl, Ricky, Sierra and Clayton, many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Armond, known to his many friends as “Mac”, and to his grandkids as “Opa”, was kind hearted, soft spoken, liked by everybody, loved by his family and will be dearly missed by his family and many friends.

Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 12th, at Peninsula Lutheran Church, 6509 -38th Ave NW, Gig Harbor, WA 98335, reception to follow at the church, with Interment at Haven of Rest Cemetery, Gig Harbor.
