Bernadine Lucille McLucas of Tacoma Washington died on January 13, 2018 after a short battle with cancer. She was born August 31, 1931 in Snohomish Washington to Arnold and Thelma Hand. Bernie grew up in the Bellevue Kirkland area with siblings Warren, Shirley and Ronald.
Bernie graduated from Bellevue High School in 1949 and soon after started her career at Boeing. She married first husband Lonnie McLean and had sons Scott and Matt.
In 1970 Bernie met her life love and partner Fred McLucas. On July 10, 1971 they were married and would enjoy 46 years together.
In 1983 Bernie and Fred retired from Boeing. Their retirement years were spent enjoying travel abroad, RV trips throughout the United States and wintering in Yuma.
Bernie was an avid reader, and loved gardening, art, history and theater. She was a wonderful cook hosting many family and holiday dinners. Bernie loved her husband Fred and her family above all. Together Bernie and Fred formed the foundation of our family always providing love and support. We will miss Bernie very much.
Bernie is survived by her husband Fred, sons Scott McLean and Matt McLean (wife Kathy), step-daughters Janyce Keeling (husband Marty), Michele Biddle and Terri Beers, ten grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on July 10th, 2018 at 1:00 pm at Haven of Rest Funeral Home in Gig Harbor Washington.
