Camille Cummings

Camille Cummings, Of Gig Harbor, WA. Passed away at her home on June 8, following an extended illness. Born in Jackson, Michigan on March 2, 1939 she soon developed a lifelong talent for teaching and devoted her professional life to child development. Literally hundreds of her former students will continue to remember her as “their” first grade teacher. After years in public and private schools she recognized the growing need for more specialized attention for those needing special care. In response she founded Children’s Academy Schools in Kent WA. This school has prospered and is now known as Academy Schools in Tukwilla, WA. She finally retired from teaching in 2008 and redirected her talent to her family, friends and church.

Camille is survived by her husband of 59 years and two daughters; Catherine, of Provence RI and Elizabeth (Beth), of Fircrest, WA.

Funeral Mass will be at St. Nicholas church in Gig Harbor on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at 10:00AM. It is requested that consideration be given to the Ladies Guild of St. Nicholas Parish in lieu of flowers.
