Charles was born on Sept. 21, 1927 and peacefully passed away at home on July 7th. He grew up in Sekiu, WA. Upon graduating from high school he proudly served in the U. S. Navy on President Harry Truman’s presidential yacht the U.S.S. Williamsburg. Afterwards he continued his education at WSU graduating with a degree in education. Throughout his career he taught in Blaine, Clallam Bay, Forks and Tacoma where he also taught driver’s ed.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 yrs, Joan. His sons Chuck (Tricia) of West Seattle, William of Tacoma and daughter Marsha (Jean) of Tacoma. He also will be missed by his loving grandchildren Chelsea, Charlie and Julianne. He leaves behind sisters Geri Moore of Quilicene, Aileen Corley of Auburn, brother Jim of Sekiu and numerous nieces and nephews.
Charles’ passion was fishing in Sekiu, La Push and around the Puget Sound. While on summer breaks from teaching he started his own fishing company called Olympic Charters. Charles and Joan spent many years square dancing where they met many longtime friends. If he wasn’t involved in these two hobbies you would find him out chopping wood.
There will be a celebration of Charles’ life at his daughter’s house on Sunday, August 12th at 1:00 pm., 1126 North James St., Tacoma, WA.
