David "Pete" McConnon, 88, of Gig Harbor, Washington passed away after a short battle with cancer surrounded by family on July 18, 2018. He was born on September 4, 1929 in Wolf Point, Montana. He was the middle of eight siblings and the last surviving member of his brothers and sisters. He was raised in Wolf Point and attended high school in Watford City, ND where he met and eventually married his wife Ruth Okland.
Dave worked various jobs like ranching and mining prior to obtaining his civil engineering degree. He joined the Army and fought in the Korea Conflict in 1952. After his military service, he moved back to Montana where he where he received his BS in civil engineering and started a family. He worked for the Federal Highway Administration and was transferred to numerous locations across the US. After retirement, he and his wife owned and operated the Posie Patch floral shop in Gig Harbor, WA for eight years. He was very active in the formation of the Gig Harbor Knights of Columbus Council and was the Charter Grand Knight. He was preceded in death by his wife Ruth and is survived by his four children Barb, Bill, Mike, David and their spouses and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The funeral services will be held at St Nicholas Church, Gig Harbor on July 26th at 11:00 am, with a reception to follow at the church.
Interment will be held at Tahoma National Cemetery, in Kent, WA, on August 1st at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Knights of Columbus, Gig Harbor council. On line guest book may be signed at www.havenrest.com
