Dorothy was born June 26, 1929 in Cleveland, Ohio to Theodore and Lillian Stueber.
She passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family on January 28th, 2018.
Dorothy became a stewardess for Northwest Airlines in February of 1951 and moved to Seattle in May of that year. When she stepped off the plane and looked around at the mountain, she thought she had died and gone to heaven. She loved the Pacific Northwest.
On one of her flights she met Jim, the co-pilot. She decided that he was the man she was going to marry, he just didn’t know it yet!
Dorothy and Jim were married on October 11th, 1952. They moved to Gig Harbor in 1964.
They were happily married for 65 years. They were only apart for the five weeks following Jim’s death in December. They are together once again.
She is survived by her four “satisfactory” children, Don (Susan), Mitch (Valerie), Kathy (Bob) Shaw, and Dan (Anne). She was a wonderful, caring, gracious Mother to her children and their spouses.
She also leaves seven “perfect” grandchildren, James (Rebecca), and Eric Wainwright, Katie and Jamie Shaw, and Bennett, Baylee and Abby Wainwright and two great grandchildren. Kate and James.
She is also survived by her dear twin brother Don (Debbie) Stueber of Avon Lake, Ohio and several nieces and nephews.
Dorothy loved God, her family and friends, and all animals, especially horses, cats and dogs.
A celebration of her life will take place on February 17th at 2:00 pm at Chapel Hill Presbyterian Church Memorial Chapel in Gig Harbor.
