James Preston Oatridge

James Preston Oatridge (JameZ), 17, died October 8, 2017 as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. Departed, but not gone, James leaves behind his father Jeff (Torrance, CA), mother Rebecca and five siblings (Port Orchard, WA), his maternal grandpa, paternal grandparents, numerous aunts and uncles, 15 cousins and one nephew.  

He was born September 30, 2000 in Tacoma, WA. Nicknamed, Teddy Bear. James has always been a comforter. When he came into any room, he could comfort and love without having to say anything. The joy that exuded from him lightened the load for everyone around him effortlessly. He always wanted to take the pain of others upon himself. Even at a young age his selflessness was evident, at just 9 years old he carried his little sister, Sarah, around Disneyland when she was too tired to go on. Because he was taken at such an early age he didn’t have set plans for the future, but he loved looking at the stars. James always said he would go to Mars one day, and indeed we know he is in heaven among the stars he loved so much, looking down on us with that big, Teddy Bear smile.
