John W. Harvey

John William Harvey passed away peacefully on February 7, 2018. Born in Barnum, West Virginia, on January 29, 1927, he was one of seven children. John enlisted in the U.S. Navy on Nov. 24, 1944. He served in both WWII and the Korean War. After the war he continued in the Navy as a reservist and retired after 20 years of service. John also worked at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 33 years. He was always proud to take his family on tours of ships and later nuclear submarines, during family day. John was always building or fixing something for someone and he never hesitated to help when there was a need. He loved to fish and golf and grow things but most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends.

John loved his wife and 6 children, 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren and never hesitated to tell them with words and hugs and kisses. He is preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Norma; son, Richard, and son, Robert. He is survived by his daughters, Joni (Leonard), Karen, and Liz (Brent); son, John (Brenda); 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Dad (little grandpa) will be missed!
