On September 18, 2019, Joseph Michael Severino passed away at his home after a yearlong battle with cancer.
He is now reunited with the love of his life Brenda Joy Severino and his mother Dee Severino.
Mike was born on January 10, 1969 in Tampa Bay, Florida to Joseph and Dee Severino. He is survived by his father and brother Christopher Severino.
Mike attended and graduated from Hillsborough High School in Tampa Bay. Shortly after he joined the military and on May 3, 1990 began his 20 years of service in the Air Force. During that time, he had many tours, including Germany, Korea, Egypt, Iraq and Afghanistan.
His first station was here at Ft. Lewis and this is where his story began. He met and dated Miss Brenda Joy Scott. Soon after they fell in love and were married on March 24, 1994 for 25 years. During that time, he was transferred to Spokane, San Antonio, and then returned once more to Ft. Lewis where they called it home. They had and raised two beautiful daughters, Olivia Danielle and Hannah Paige.
Once Mike retired from the Air Force, he joined Pierce Transit and was a part of that family for the past 5 years.
Everyone who knew Mike knows he was larger than life. It didn't matter what it was, if he was a part of it, he was all in!
Being born and raised in Tampa Bay, Florida, he was a die hard Buccaneer's fan. Mike loved football, but soccer was his passion. From coaching Olivia's team, being a Ref, or going to a Seattle Sounders game, everyone knew Mike loved soccer!
His biggest love though was his family. There wasn't anything that he wouldn't do for Brenda or his girls. He was so proud to be a WSU dad and loved being a part of Hannah's gymnastics.
Mike leaves behind many family and friends who loved him and his passion for life. He will be missed by all.
A Celebration of Life will be held in his honor on Saturday October 5, 2019, 11:00 am, at Haven of Rest in Gig Harbor.
