Kenneth Paul Giske

Ken was born November 2, 1930, in Ketchikan, Alaska to parents Paul and Iris Giske. He graduated from Hoquiam High School, Class of 1948. While at Hoquiam High, Ken was a great athlete, participating in football, basketball, and track.

Ken continued his education at both the University of Puget Sound and Grays Harbor College, where he played on the 1949 Grays Harbor College Hall of Fame Championship Football Team.

After college, Ken served on active duty in the Marine Corps during the Korean War.

He graduated in 1955 from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Science in Forest Engineering and was licensed as a Professional Land Surveyor in 1967.

Ken worked as a Forest Engineer and Land Manager for Boise Cascade Corporation for 26 years, and then for various engineering firms until 1992 before forming his own Land Surveying Corporation, which operated until 2014.

Ken enjoyed spending time with his family, sports, retreating to his beach house at Ocean Shores, Washington, working on various projects involving his yard and home, and reading.

Ken is survived by a sister, Beverly Gavin and wife Nikki, he was married for 62 years, a son Rod and wife Deby Giske, daughter Randi and husband Bill Kokonaski, and daughter Susan Giske. He is also remembered by his grandchildren Nicholas and wife Amy Giske, Natassja and Ari Kokonaski, Mandi and Dustin Wade, and great-grandson Dax Wade.  

The Inurnment is held at Haven of Rest Cemetery. Private graveside service with family and a memorial at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Tacoma Rescue Mission in his memory.
