Marjorie Ann (Schank) Hawkinson

Marjorie Hawkinson went home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 09, 2018 surrounded by her loving sisters and family.  Marjorie was born in Seattle on March 4, 1954 to Douglas and Hazel Schank.  She attended Hope Lutheran in West Seattle through eighth grade and graduated from West Seattle High School in 1972.  She married John Hawkinson.  They had a daughter, Katrina and son John.  The family lived together in Port Orchard for many years.

Marjorie was a trained respiratory therapist and worked in several hospitals.  Marjorie was known for her talents in hospitality and loved cooking for her family and friends.  The kitchen was her playground.  She enjoyed cooking throughout her life and was a great family host for holiday gatherings and special occasions. Later in life Marjorie became a long time member of the YMCA and continued to plan and host gatherings with friends from the YMCA.  Marjorie was known for her quick wit and enjoyed engaging conversations with family and friends.  Marjorie had a warm and welcoming personality and always looked for ways to please family and friends.  Marjorie enjoyed theatre and was a talented performer.  Marjorie enjoyed collecting antiques and going to garage sales.    

Survivors include her daughter, Katrina; sons John and Jordan; sisters Susanne and Christine; grandson, William; and extended family and friends.  Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband, John Hawkinson and her parents Douglas and Hazel Schank. She will be dearly missed by her family and many close friends.

A graveside service for Marjorie will be held at Haven of Rest Memorial Park in Gig Harbor on Thursday, November 15 at 2:00 p.m. A reception will follow.
