Marjorie Denise Ingalls, age 82, passed away December 23, 2019 in West Seattle, Washington. She was born May 22, 1937 in Spokane, Washington to Denise Earl Barry and Luva Margerite Hooper Barry. She met her best friend, Richard “Dick” David Ingalls on her first day in art class at Seattle University. He preceded her in death one week after their 60th anniversary.
Margie loved art, physics and traveling. She created the first colorful map for tourists of Seattle in 1964, calling her company “Tourmap Company.” She continued creating maps of cities all over the world for 53 years. Meanwhile, she explored the physics of reproducing color accurately; eventually acquiring two patents on her discoveries which had applications to printing, medicine & agriculture.
A beautiful, kind and classy person all her life, she charmed everyone she met with her smile. She loved animals, raising three Old English Sheepdogs - all named Tiffany. Tiffany 3 was with her until her very last days.
Margie is survived by her sister and husband, Lynn and Mel Wicks; her brothers Wm. Timothy Barry, Kevin Barry and Kevin’s wife, Gayle; her daughters: Pam Ingalls and husband Michael Monteleone; and Cynthia and Vann Smith.
Margie’s service will be Friday, December 27th @ 9:30 am in the chapel @ Providence Mount Saint Vincent’s in West Seattle, where they took extraordinary care of her for the last year and a half. She will be buried next to Dick at Haven of Rest Cemetery in Gig Harbor, WA.
Now she and Dick are on the trip of a lifetime- off to see the universe.
