Matthew C Hines

Matthew (Matt) C. Hines, 65, passed away peacefully in Tacoma at the Franciscan Hospice Center, July 28th, 2019. 

After being born in San Antonio, Texas, while his father was stationed at Lackland, Air Force Base, Matt moved all over the US including Texas, New York, Alaska, Alabama and Washington State.  Matt graduated from Wilson High School in Tacoma after which he worked for Boeing for 30 years before retiring May, 2019. 

Matt met his beloved wife, Diane, at the historic Goldfish Tavern at Point Defiance and married, April, 1990.  Matt and Diane enjoyed riding his Harley and following the Grateful Dead.  They also enjoyed hiking and camping in the Cascades.  He absolutely loved Alaska and always dreamed of going back someday.  He loved walking any beach, anywhere and enjoyed river fishing, watching the Mariners, and definitely watching the Cougs! 

Matt will always be known for his welcoming smile, his kind heart and his sense of humor. 

Matt is preceded in death by his parents, Eileen and Robert Hines. 

Matt is survived by his loving wife, Diane, his sisters Jayne Schraw, Mary Clement, Barb Masri and brother-law-law Bill Masri.  Also by his other family & friends, Joe Schraw, Angie Anderson, Pete Anderson and their children, Matt, Ben & Lyla, April Griffith and Chris Kelly, Anna Griffith, Layla Masri, Kodiac Murphy, Lara Masri, Sammy May, and by his loving New York family Laurie Keenan, Fanny Keenan, Jessie Neilly & John and daughter, Isabella, as well as Kasey, Meagan, June & Olive Neilly, Dustin Neilly and John Neilly…and last but not least, by his best friend, Rick Lind and fiancée Vickie.
