On November 28, 2019, we unexpectedly lost our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend who passed away at home in Gig Harbor, Washington.
Mel was born on September 18, 1945, in Los Angeles, California to Virginia and Herbert Osburn. He was the youngest of two boys. He grew up in Long Beach, California where he graduated from Banning High School in 1963, and met his beloved wife of 54 years, Paulette Grace MacConnell. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany and received a National Defense Service Medal. In 1967, he began a lifetime career as a Structural Ironworker in Los Angeles, California and later retired from ironwork in Seattle, Washington in 1998. Mel had a heart of gold and loved spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, his corvette, and travelling with Paulette.
Mel is preceded in death by his parents, Virginia and Herbert, and his brother, Gene Alan Osburn. He is survived by his wife, Paulette; his two daughters (and spouse): Yvonne (John), Renee; his three grandchildren: Nicholas, Nicole, and Cortney, plus his nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Haven of Rest in Gig Harbor.
