Michael J Phillips

February 9, 1944 – August 10, 2017

Mike lost a six and a half year battle with cancer on August 10, 2017. Other than the last two months Mike was able to maintain his quality of life despite the discomfort of various symptoms and numerous doctor visits, tests and treatments. He still found joy in living and was able to work on completing his various projects. He is survived by wife and partner in many of his adventures, Linda of Longbranch WA; son and daughter-in-law Jason and Melissa and their two children Ruby and Eleanor; daughter and daughter-in-law Elizabeth and Amy (Wood) and their two children Henry and Desmond, all of San Diego CA. He also leaves behind many friends from a career at the City of San Diego, time in the Navy Reserves and the twelve years spent cruising the world on the sailing vessel ‘Integrity’.

To his friends and family Mike was what some might consider a ‘hard charger’. He was a hard working man who approached life with the fierce urgency of now. Always ready for the next adventure or try something new. Full of big ideas, big dreams and willing to put himself out there to make them a reality. While not always the most diplomatic he could convince the people around him to do more and to try new things. He will be remembered as a loving and devoted partner, father and friend.

He will be greatly missed.
