Oscar Santos Bonnevie Sr.

Oscar Santos Bonnevie Sr., 78, passed away in Seattle, Washington on November 12, 2017. He left us peacefully surrounded by his immediate family.

Oscar was born on June 12, 1939 in Iriga City, Philippines to Pedro Bonnevie and Fabiana Santos as the eldest child of four siblings.  He grew up working in the family transportation business in his hometown for many years until he immigrated to Seattle, Washington in 1975.  In his newfound home of Seattle, he worked as an electrical specialist for 35 years.

In retirement, Oscar spent his time truly living life to the fullest. He loved to do work around the house, spend time with his family and spoil his grandchildren, dance, watch Filipino soap operas, take care of his beloved dog, Charlie, and play blackjack.  He always said “You can’t take your money with you!”

You could also call him a World Traveler. He has visited most of Europe, the Holy Lands, and New Zealand and everywhere in between.   But he always was excited to go back to the Philippines.

Oscar is survived by his wife, Lilia Bonnevie, and immediate family in Seattle area and Philippines.

A prayer vigil and viewing will be held at 5 p.m. on Thursday, November 16 at Haven of Rest Chapel in Gig Harbor.  The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 17 at St Nicholas Catholic Church in Gig Harbor.  A lunch reception will follow at the St. Nicholas Church Hall.  Interment will occur at 2:30 p.m. at Haven of Rest Cemetery.
