Patricia Jane Crounse passed away 5/16/2018 at the age of 90. She was born on May 14th, 1928 in Tacoma, Washington to Dick and Susie Latshaw. She Graduated from Stadium High School of Tacoma in 1946. She earned a BA from Pacific Lutheren University, and a MA from the University of Washington.
Pat taught for 30 years in both the Tacoma and Highline School districts, as first and elementary teacher, and later a high school librarian. She was an active member of AAUW, Dleta Kappa Gamma teaching honorary, the University Women’s Club off Seattle, and the Arizona Opera League. Pat loved to paint in her spare time and was an accomplished interior designer.
Pat married Don Crounse (the boy across the street) in 1949. She and Don lived on Day Island, Tacoma and in Normandy Park, WA for many years. Pat and Don had two wonderful sons, Steven J. and Christopher J., whom graduated from MIT and WSU respectively.
Retiring in 1984, Pat and Don traveled extensively abroad and within the United States, eventually settling in Tucson, Arizona for their winter residence, and spending summers at their home in Longbranch, WA.
Pat is survived by her husband of 69 years, Don Crounse of Longbranch, son Steven Crounse of California, and son Christopher Crounse of Washington. Other surviving relatives included sister-in-law Betty Crounse of Gig Harbor, nephew William Crounse of Bellevue, nephew Roger Dangel of LaJolla, CA and Cousin John Shearer of London, England.
Among many other things, Patty was a thoughtful and caring mother and wife who blessed her family and friends with her dedication and generosity, and her kind and up beat nature. She will be greatly missed.
Burial will be at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, Washington Tuesday May 22, 2018 at 10:15 am
