Victoria Rose Parkhurst (nee LeGall) died at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Tacoma, on Friday, February 9, 2018 following a medical procedure. She is survived by her devoted husband, Jack Parkhurst, sisters Jacquelyn Jones and Ellie Markell, brother Kent Roberts, nieces Susan Baird, Lisa Aoki, KC Chapman, nephew David Chapman, and many great nieces and nephews. A celebration of Vicki’s life will be held at Haven of Rest 8503 SR 16, Gig harbor, WA 98332 on February 16, 2018 at 2:00 P.M.
Vicki was born in Appleton, WA on November 3, 1937. She attended the Liberty Bond School (performing so well she skipped a grade) and later Junction City schools in Oregon where she graduated at sixteen. Subsequently, Vicky attended Portland State and went to work for Ma Bell, initially as a switchboard operator. Vicki married Richard Moritz in 1960 and eventually moved to Gig Harbor, WA. They were raising their boys when Dick died in a vehicle accident. As she did all through life, Vicki moved forward, caring for her boys, enrolling at the University of Puget Sound, receiving her BA, and meeting and marrying Jack Parkhurst in 1985. Vicki and Jack have been life members of the Gig Harbor Gun Club enjoying trap shooting there and at many such clubs around the state and beyond. Both also enjoyed fishing in Jack’s boat. He fished and Vicki, an avid reader, read. Vicki also enjoyed card games. Her lively presence will be much missed by her canasta and mahjong group.
Vicki’s passing leaves a painful blank in many lives
