Andrew "Drew" Wingard was born March 13, 1938 in Tacoma, WA, to Dick and Emmeline Wingard. He graduated from Peninsula High School in 1956. He is survived by his wife, Joyce, 2 brothers Harry Wingard (Sandie); Tom Wingard (Lynn); and 1 sister Charlyn Wingard, 2 children, Sabrina Wingard, and David Wingard; 3 Grandchildren Malia Wingard, Terri Becker, and D.J, Wingard; 4 Greatchildren Isabelle Becker; Michael Becker; Camilla Taylor; and soon Sebastien (Drew) Taylor.
While in High School and after he graduated he worked for his father's business for 17 years for Wingard & Company.
Drew also was a volunteer firefighter. for 6 years and in 1973 he became Fire Chief. During his reign as Fire Chief he accomplished many goals that he set for the fire department. Some of those achievements were six new fire stations replacing garages for the fire trucks. In 1973 when he became Fire Chief the department grew from 3 stations paid staff to 23 when he retired in in 1996. Drew was also involved in many community activities, such as the Daffodil Float Rotary, Lions Club, and Gig Harbor Yacht Club.
Celebration of Life will be held on February 8, 2020 @ 2 pm in the Chapel Hill Presbyterian Church. Remembrances may be made to the American Cancer Association.
