CARL JEFFREY MIRALDI
Carl Jeffrey Miraldi, a lifetime resident of Tacoma and Gig Harbor passed away on December 1, 2021 after a seven year battle with cancer which eventually turned into MDS. He would have been 75 on December 27, 2021.
Carl was the son of Carl A. Miraldi and Blanche E. Miraldi and is survived by his sisters Susan Sparks (husband Douglas) of Lakewood, WA; Sherry Elsworth of Minnesota; and three stepdaughters Deborah “Tom” Nolan of Friday Harbor, WA; Katy “Dan” Little of Austin Texas; and Gabriella Anderson of Gig Harbor, WA; plus 5 grandsons who called him “Opa” plus a niece and nephew.
Carl served as a sergeant in the US Army in 1966 until he was wounded in the Vietnam War in 1967. Carl graduated from Stadium High School in 1965. He played varsity football and shot put on the track team. During Carl’s younger years, he loved being on the water with his hydroplane at the family beach place in Olympia. He would be on it from morning till night. Carl raced cars for awhile and loved anything that went fast .
In 1981, Carl married Christa the love of his life in Maui. Christa, his wife of 40 years passed away in May 2021 after a short battle of cancer. They always enjoyed life together. They traveled abroad and loved cruising throughout the Puget Sound and up into Canada on the vessel Carl B III. They returned to Maui often with their family, which was very important to both of them.
Carl’s father founded Miraldi Welding and Medical Supplies Inc. in 1952 and then Carl worked very close with his father and finally took over the business in the 1980’s. Carl was a member of the Tacoma Elks Lodge No. 174 and was a member of the Tacoma Athletic Club. Around 2014, Carl became a realtor in Gig Harbor with Windermere.
Carl was loved very much and will be missed by his friends and family.
