Davey L Smith

Davey L Smith, age 91, of Gig Harbor, WA was called home by the Lord on Wednesday April 19, 2023. He was born November 21, 1931, in Seattle, WA. Davey graduated from Roosevelt High School in Seattle in 1949. On May 19, 1956, he married Gertrude “Trudy” Raymond and spent the next 53 years together raising a family in Tacoma, WA. Davey worked for Pacific Northwest Bell for 33 years starting on the line crew and retiring in Marketing and Sales. During Davey’s retirement, he enjoyed building ornate birdhouses, traveling the world with Trudy, vacationing in Cabo San Lucas and volunteering at the Tacoma Rescue Mission. He attended Skyline Presbyterian Church for many years and cherished the many friendships that he made. Family was a big part of Davey’s life, including 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, who called him Papa and loved him very much.

            Davey is survived by his children Chrislee Smith, Gregory Smith (Jill) and Holly Hellman (James), 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He is proceeded in death by his wife, Trudy, in 2009.

            A Memorial Service will be held on Friday May 5, 2023, at 2:00pm at Haven of Rest in Gig Harbor, WA. Remembrances may be made to Tacoma Rescue Mission or your favorite charity.
