Delores Tulfo Obituary

Delores Jeanne Tulfo of Tacoma, Washington, passed peacefully on September 25, 2021 at the age of 85.  She was ready to meet her savior Jesus Christ after a brief battle with Covid-19.  She was born Delores Olsen on February 28, 1936 in Portland, Oregon, and was raised in Anchorage, Alaska.  She lived in Chicago prior to coming to Tacoma, Washington where she spent most of her life.

Delores’ life was marked by her love for God and country. She lived out her faith over morning devotions, hours in the garden, sunsets at Titlow Beach, and of course dancing. She invested her time and energies in various civic clubs, laboring tirelessly for the crisis pregnancy center (CareNet), 28th District Republicans, and the VFW. If there was an activity she cherished most it was the worship of our Lord. She loved her church family at Faith Presbyterian Church and Evangelical Reformed Church and was faithful with her cheerful attendance and support.  She treasured each event and took great joy in watching her grandchildren attend Covenant High School, and Springfield Classical Christian.

The garden was a life-long joy to Delores, and she could be found each morning sipping a strong cup of coffee, looking out the kitchen window for hummingbirds and budding plants. Delores was an avid traveller and was fortunate to enjoy many trips locally, cross country, and internationally.  A trip to Norway to meet her family and another one to France to see Monet’s paintings and house were of great significance to her. She was a member of the Sons of Norway, and thoroughly enjoyed teaching her grandkids to appreciate their Norwegian heritage through cooking, painting and other folk crafts.  She was industrious and naturally entrepreneurial, delighting in teaching her children and grand children to be inventive and hard working.  Her years of work as a medical transcriptionist fed an intense curiosity for medicine and the medical field.

She lovingly cared for her late husband Bert Bennett and subsequent husband Magno Tulfo as each of them finally met their Maker at the end of difficult illnesses.

She is survived by her sister, Mary Fuqua, four children, Grant Klufetos, Debra Christopoulos (Jonathan Jerke), Timothy Klufetos, Scott Bennett (Alisha) and fifteen grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Michael Klufetos, Nicole Lindstedt and her children, Cassidy, Finnley, and Hollis, Jeffrey Klufetos (Silvana) and children Mila and Max, Rachel Yarborough (Chris) and children Ashlyn and Sydney, Amanda Moran (Brian) and children Lucy and Chloe, and Allyson Bennett.

Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. on October 9th, at Faith Presbyterian Church, 620 South Shirley, Tacoma Washington, Rev.’s Rich Hamlin and Robert Rayburn officiating.

Burial will be at Mt. Tahoma National Cemetery.
