Diane Davis Obituary

Diane E. Davis, age 68, passed away peacefully on July 1st, 2020 in Port Orchard, WA. She was born in Bremerton, WA on April 28th, 1952, daughter of the late Bruno and Rita Goetz of Coeur d’Alene, ID. She was a graduate of Red River High School in Minot, ND in 1970, received her Cosmetology License from Dahl’s College of Beauty in Great Falls, MT in 1975 and later received her Cosmetology Instructor License from The Beauty Academy in Coeur d’Alene, ID.

After teaching in Idaho for 12 years, she made the decision to relocate to Washington to be closer to her granddaughter, who she lovingly referred to as her “sweetheart.” She began teaching at Evergreen Beauty College (formally known as Bellevue Beauty School) in December of 2000. She was always known to be everyone’s favorite instructor; she was tough because she wanted her students to succeed but she was also funny, witty, thoughtful and memorable to her students.

After being diagnosed with stage 4 Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma in the spring of 2008, she underwent aggressive chemotherapy and with her unbreakable determination and strength, she beat cancer and celebrated being cancer-free in the Spring of 2014. Despite her strength and resilience to beat cancer, the damage her body endured due to the aggressive chemotherapy was too much and she suffered a massive stroke in September of 2014. The stroke left her partially paralyzed and unable to speak but she continued to fight for survival, communicated solely through her vibrant and colorful facial expressions defying all of the odds up until the time of her death. She inspired us all with her strength, stubbornness, and positivity through all of the obstacles in her life. She loved her family and always put their needs and happiness before her own.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Bruno and Rita Goetz, and her sister Linda Goetz.

She is survived by her two daughters, Melissa Baker and Amanda Davis, her granddaughter Jayden Russell, her sister Brenda Mitchell and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
