Donald Ray Cooper of Gig Harbor passed away July 19, 2023 at the age of 75. Don was a beloved father, grandfather, and friend. He had a love for old cars and rebuilt a 36 Chevy coup that he used to take to car shows and was a past member of The Midnight Riders car club. After over 25 years he retired from UPS. He was an active member at Peninsula Lutheran Church and served on the leadership committee along with other volunteer positions. He loved his dog Buddy and took him everywhere with him.
Don was born July 10, 1948 in Windom Minnesota. He moved to Tacoma on his 18th birthday and lived there until 1978 when he moved to Gig Harbor where he lived until his passing. He was preceded in death by his parents Donald and Dorothy Cooper of Osseo Minnesota and brother Wayne Cooper.
He is survived by his children Noel (Julie) Cooper and Holly Cooper (Ed Bailes), his ex wife and friend Patricia Cooper, grandchildren Skiler Dewitz (Alicia) Danielle Capers (Nick) Joy Dewitz (Dylan) Hannah Cooper (Tanner) Emma Dewitz (Zak) and Faith Dewitz (Jordan). Brothers Marlin (Judy) Cooper, Roger (Marilyn) Cooper, Myron (Kathy) Cooper and sister Carol (Kim) Sartin along with many nieces and nephews. Viewing will be August 1 12:00-5:00pm.Funeral services will be held at 1:30pm Wedensday August 2 at Peninsula Lutheran Church. Internment 3:30pm at Haven of Rest, followed by a celebration of life 4:30pm at Gig Harbor Eagles.
