Donald Haskell Obituary

Donald Whitefield Haskell

February 23, 1932- August 30, 2021 (Age 89)

Don Haskell went home to be with his Lord and Savior on August 30. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends, but we are rejoicing in the hope of salvation and the promise that we will see him again.

Don was born in South Paris, Maine, where he lived until he joined the Army in 1952 . When he was stationed in France in 1953, he met the love of his life, Mary Pyle. They were married in Seattle 6 years later, on November 27, 1959.

While stationed in Seattle, they welcomed their first child, Donna Joy in 1960 and then David Paul in 1962. Their daughter, Deborah Ann was born in California in 1965, and in 1967 MyraBeth (Beth) was born in Massachusetts.

He retired from the Air Force in 1975, and moved with Mary and their 4 children to Tacoma, Washington.

Don was a member of Southside Baptist Church, where he was involved in the children’s ministries and choir. He had many interests and hobbies, but his greatest joy was entertaining children of all ages.

Don was preceded in death by his parents , Harold and Myra Haskell; his 3 brothers, Harold, Allen and Stan, and his sister, Annette. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 62 years, Mary Haskell; his 4 children, Donna Schonauer (Ken), Dave Haskell (Barbie), Debbie Haskell, and Beth Baker; his 12 grandchildren, Zachary Allan, Jordan Michael , Jacob Jennings and Samuel Wayne Shadle; Jodi Haskell Andersen, Austin James, Tanner MacCallum, Cassidy Shayne and Carson David Haskell, Shanna Marie Haskell, Brandon Lee and Jeremy Michael Baker; 9 great grandchildren, Christian David, Colton Wayne and Caitryn Lynn Andersen, Ava Lynn Wilson, Riley Sue, Westin Michael Louis, and Hunter Jean Shadle, Reider Jennings Shadle, and Jude Esben Haskell.

A Memorial Service will be held on October 2, at 11:00 AM at Southside Baptist Church, 626 So G St., Tacoma, WA.

A private internment with full military honors will be held on October 4, at 11:00 at Tahoma Cemetery in Covington, WA.
