Carolyn Nelson Hardy, M.D. was the third child born to Los Angeles surgeon Dr. Elmer Nelson and Elizabeth (Betty) Nelson. She had two sisters, Frances Foster and the late Dr. Kathryn Nelson Magarian and two brothers, Ben Nelson and the late Roy Nelson.
Carolyn graduated from Lynwood Academy and La Sierra College. She entered Loma Linda Medical School in 1961, graduating in 1965. She was board certified in Emergency medicine which was her lifelong work and passion. She was also board certified in Family Practice. She was an accomplished tennis player and a competitive sail-boat racer. She created beautiful handmade tapestries and needlework that she generously gave to her family and friends which will provide ongoing comfort.
Carolyn was predeceased by her loving husband, Dr. William M. Hardy. She is survived by three step children, numerous nieces and nephews, and a multitude of friends.
She will be remembered by her love for her family, church, friends as well as her passion for all the beauty of the earth, music and traveling.
A Celebration of Carolyn’s life will be held on Friday, October 19, 2018, at 11:00 AM at the Belfair Adventist Church, 30 Northeast Beck Road, Belfair, Washington. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Belfair Adventist Church or the Salvation Army.
A memorial service will be held in Orange County, California at a date to be determined.
