Georgia L. (Davis) Meier, aged 98, joined the heavens on Sunday, August 14, 2022 while surrounded by her family and loved ones. Born and raised in Tacoma, WA, and a member of the Chehalis Tribe, Georgia made the South Sound region her home for a majority of her life. She grew up on McKinley Avenue with her six sisters, father, mother and her beloved grandmother. A graduate of Lincoln High School, Georgia continued her career working for The Metropolitan Dime Store in downtown Tacoma.
Georgia married Al Meier in 1968 and started a new chapter of family and legacy. She helped run Al Meier’s Building Center and supported multiple charities and organizations throughout the years. She appreciated the little things in life like working her garden, fresh cut flowers in her home, and a well-set table! While outwardly quiet and reserved, those close to her knew her to be the true matriarch of the family. Her legacy of love, strength, and perseverance will last through the generations that follow her.
She is preceded in death by her love, Al Meier, her six sisters (Alvina, Doris, Beverly, Loyala Jean, Shirley, and Elizabeth), father, mother, and many friends and family. Georgia is survived by her children, Randy David, Debbie, and Randi Lee and son-in-law, Dave and grandchildren, Sara, Erin, Jeff, Hillary, Anthony, Jennifer, Kenneth and several great-grandchildren.
The family would like to say “Asante sana” to the wonderful women who made up Georgia’s care team in her final years. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Mary Bridge Children’s Foundation in Georgia’s memory. A memorial celebration will be held at Haven of Rest in Gig Harbor, WA on Saturday, August 27th at 2:00 pm.
