Hannelore (Hanne) Webb passed peacefully on April 14, 2022.
Born on Christmas Eve 1938, in Bad Hersfeld Germany to Karl and Johanna Gerwig, she was the fourth of six children. Hanne is preceded in death by her parents, all of her siblings and tragically her oldest son, William J. Webb Jr.
Raised in Bad Hersfeld during World War 2, her childhood was traumatic. In spite of that, she excelled in and completed her schooling never losing her kind and loving nature. Hanne enjoyed participating in school programs, especially at Christmas. Johanna often referred to Hanne as her angel because of her Christmas Eve arrival and kindness and devotion.
In 1960, Hanne met William (Bill) J. Webb Sr. and they married in April of 1962. That same year she boarded the USS United States, crossed the Atlantic for the United States to begin her 60-year adventure with Bill. Being married to an Army soldier made life very busy.
Hanne had the daunting task of moving households and four children many times through the years. She was an incredible support and foundation of strength behind Bill’s successes. Not only a wonderful wife and mother, she also cared for her parents until their passings in the 1990’s. Hanne was also the accountant for William’s businesses. A truly remarkable woman of many gifts and talent.
Hannelore is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Major William J. Webb Sr. (ret.): Three children Ulrike and husband Mike Janzou: Angelika and husband Isidro Rodriguez: Pastor Montgomery Webb and wife Cynthia. Grammy, as she was known, is also mourned by 12 grand children and 8 great grandchildren.
While Hanne loved gardening and family, she was most joyful when surrounded by any number of her grandchildren and family. She will always be Grammy, whose love and light was shared liberally throughout her life.
