Obituary
JoAnn C. Belanich (Malich) was called home to her Lord on February 14, 2023 at the age of 86. JoAnn was born into one of Gig Harbor’s founding families. She was the oldest daughter of Marco and Minnie Malich, and was raised in the Malich family home on Harborview Drive. She later built her own home next door to Mom and Dad, where she raised her two sons.
JoAnn worked as a bookkeeper at the Stationers in Tacoma for many years. Upon retirement, she and Tony, her husband, joined their many friends on cruises, sightseeing trips and even a journey back to their homeland of Croatia.
JoAnn was preceded in death by her loving parents, her husband Tony Belanich, her brother Marco Malich Jr., and her sister Teresa Malich Mueller. She is survived by her sons Rob DeYoung (Jill), Ron DeYoung (Sue), grandchildren Taylor, Alexa, Kyle (Taylor) and Ryn, and her brother Ken Malich (Barb). She also had one great grandchild, Amelia (Peanut).
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 6th, 11:00 A.M. at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Gig Harbor. A reception will follow at the Gig Harbor Eagles Club.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
