Kenneth (Ken) Scott Matthews, 50 of Gig Harbor, WA passed away on Sunday June 12, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.
Ken was born in Tacoma, WA December 23, 1971, he was son of Robert (Bob) Matthews and Robin Manriquez. From a very young age Ken began his professional career in the construction industry as a heavy equipment operator. Later starting his own family run company, Federal Construction. His biggest joy was working with his children, at some point all three of his kids worked alongside him as he taught them many life skills. His Sons Cody and Kenny will continue his legacy.
Ken is survived by the love of his life Kristie Matthews, his three children and loving family: Son Cody Comer (girlfriend Trisha Hart), Daughter Taylor DeYoung (son-in-law Kyle (best bud)), Granddaughter Amelia Lou (stinky bean), Son Kenny Matthews (girlfriend Rachel Howard), Bella, AKA boopiedoo, his loyal companion who followed her “doddy” everywhere, Dad Bob Matthews and Sister Jayme Knaeble (Norm).
He was a devoted, loving husband, the best dad, greatest Pappy that ever lived.
He was a GREAT Son, Brother, Brother in law, FUNcle, Cousin and Friend to everyone he met.
Ken welcomed everyone with open arms and treated them as family.
Ken was the glue that held our family together, he never missed an opportunity to spend his time with those he loved. He lived his short life to the fullest with no regrets. He told us every single day that he Loved us, never missing an opportunity to give the biggest bear hugs. He would say grizzly, but we say gummy bear because he was the worlds biggest softy when it came to his family.
Kens legacy will always be his Family and many friends. To know him was to love him. Words cannot express the tremendous loss we all feel.
A celebration of his life will be held at the family home on Saturday June 25th, at 2 pm.
The family made the decision knowing Ken wouldn’t want a sappy formal service, but instead a go big or go home celebration filled with Love, Laughter and SMOKED MEAT! Please come with your best stories to share and spend time with our family enjoying his MEAT.
