With great sorrow, we are announcing the passing of Kyle Dean Jan 5, 1970 – Mar 27, 2022 Galpin on March 27, 2022. He is survived by his wife Mary Gwinn Galpin, his father Keith Galpin, his stepmother Susan Galpin, stepchildren Heather & Chris Gwinn, grandsons Isaac & Connor Porter, brother-in-law Carl York as well as his nephew Jake York and niece Emma York. He was proceeded in death by his mother, Mary Galpin and sister, Katherine York.
Kyle spent his adult life primarily working in the water industry. Kyle held a number of different positions from Manchester Water District Operations Manager to West Sound Utility District Water Quality Specialist to Commissioner of Manchester Water District to ditch digger. He achieved numerous certifications with respect to his work in the industry.
His volunteer work included being a fire fighter in Port Orchard, President of the Eagles, member of a local motorcycle club, instigator of a local fantasy football league and so much more.
Kyle had a quick sense of humor and never met a stranger. Kyle had the unique ability to be comfortable talking to a celebrity or a homeless man asking for a helping hand. “A person is a person – it doesn’t matter what they do.” Every kid who ever met Kyle immediately fell in love with the big teddy bear. His greatest pleasure in life was spending time with family and watching his beloved Seahawks.
Let us honor his time with us by being the things you respected the most about him. Knowing the confusion all the little kids are feeling today, Kyle would want you to give your child an extra big hug.
In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial donations to Camp Erin, a bereavement camp for children, which can be made at elunanetwork.org.
Please visit havenrest.com website where you can “share a memory” for the family to enjoy.
His urn will be placed at the Sunset Lane Memorial Park in a private ceremony close to his mother and sister. A gathering of family and friends will be held on April 16 at the Eagles Club in Port Orchard from 2:00pm – 4:00pm. Come and celebrate Kyle’s legacy and bring a funny story or memory to share.
