Lisa Morgan Obituary

Lisa Marie Morgan (née Halinen)

This was the sweetest woman I have ever known.  She would give her heart and soul to anyone and want nothing in return.  I was lucky enough that the good Lord gave her to me.  My wife, Lisa Marie, passed away on June 2, 2021.  It was a sunny Wednesday afternoon.  Believe me, she is dancing in the streets of heaven with no pains, worries, or diabetes.  I am going to miss her greatly.  Thank you all for your prayers and support.  -- Michael

Lisa Marie, 55, is now with the Lord.  Her death was due to multiple strokes secondary to complications from thirty-six years with Type 1 diabetes and twenty-six years with severe rheumatoid arthritis (RA).  Born September 7, 1965, in Tacoma, Washington, Lisa grew up in University Place and graduated from Curtis High School in 1983, where she excelled in bookkeeping and accounting, and loved playing the drums in the Curtis High School band.  In her youth, she attended University Place Assembly of God Church (now Neighborhood Church) and was baptized there as a young adult.  She studied at Western Washington University and worked in the trucking industry in accounting.  Lisa enjoyed accounting and would have preferred to continue her career as a controller, but the RA and deterioration of her joints resulted in an early disability retirement in 2017.

Lisa and Michael Morgan were married on November 15, 2020 and had been together for going on seven years.  She loved their Bonney Lake, Washington home, having lunch in the boat, and dates.  A ride around the neighborhood in her "buggy" was a daily event.

Lisa was preceded in death by her father, Leo Halinen (1928- 2015), her mother, Rose Marie Halinen (née Erickson) (1925-2018), and her infant daughter, Hannah.

In addition to her husband, surviving Lisa Marie are her two sons, Zachary Bell and Nathaniel Bell, her stepson, Kevin Morgan, her stepdaughter, Miranda Morgan, her brother, David Halinen (and his wife, Patricia), and her sister, Debra Santelli (and her husband, Matthew); nephews Joel Halinen (and his wife, Kimberly, and daughters Katie and Sara) and Jeremy Halinen, a niece, Anne Alaka (and her husband, Alexander, and daughter Mihika), nephew Joshua Halinen, and nephew Justin Walter.  She is also survived by her uncle Martti Halinen (and his wife, Marja), aunts Irja Hölttä, Marja-Liisa Querbach (and her husband, Adolf), Maire Lilja (and her husband, Ilkka), and Tarja Halinen-Buonocore; numerous cousins in the US, Finland, and Germany; and many distant relatives and wonderful friends.

Per Lisa Marie’s wishes, there will be no funeral service, however, a celebration of her life will be held closer to her birthday in early September.  In lieu of flowers, Lisa’s family welcomes memorial contributions to the American Diabetes Association.
