Luke was a bright light to all those who had the pleasure of crossing paths with him. He was interested in everything. He was an out-of-the-box thinker who was very thoughtful, smart, well read, friendly, kind, adventurous, spontaneous and funny. As one of his cousins said, “He was the cousin that everyone wanted to sit by because he always made you laugh more than anyone could”. He was the only child of Frank & Lisa Marinkovich, but he thought of his cousins as his siblings. If you knew Luke, you knew that he was a proud Croatian commercial fisherman and oh so proud of both his Swedish and Croatian heritage. He began his fishing career at 10 years old, fishing on his dad’s boat every summer in Bristol Bay Alaska for Sockeye salmon. In recent years he fished for crab and squid off the Washington and Oregon Coast. From a young age, Luke was always an entrepreneur. From selling blueberries from our backyard to neighbors, having a lemonade stand every 4th of July in Old Town Tacoma, gum and fish sales and his short-lived mole catching business. He was always looking for a way to earn a dollar. Luke leaves behind friends and a large family that truly loved him. He was one in a million. We are so proud to call him our son.
