Margaret A. O’Connell, age 74, a resident of Gig Harbor, WA since 1990 passed away on June 25th, 2021.
She graduated from Norwalk Hospital School of Nursing in 1967, then joined the Air Force as a Second Lieutenant. She was stationed in Panama City Beach, FL and volunteered for Vietnam in 1968. She received an honorable discharge as a First Lieutenant in 1969.
Peggy was a woman of many talents, a mother, a cake decorator, an equestrian and a RN for over 50 years.
Before moving to Gig Harbor, Peg worked as a RN in New Mexico, she did a year of travel nursing which took her across the United States. After completing her travels she settled in Gig Harbor where she worked in St Joes and St Claire’s Hospitals. She was one of the original staff that opened St Anthony’s Hospital. Peggy retired from St Anthony’s hospital after many years of service as an angel of mercy.
Her immediate family members include her son Michael Paul and grandson Jaden Lazarski of New Mexico, her three sisters Mary Frances O’Connell, Veronica Kosa of Gig Harbor, WA and Kathleen Pederson of Naugatuck, CT, her many nieces and nephews.
She is dearly missed by all.
She will be interned at Tahoma National Cemetery on September 17th, 2021 at 10:00 a.m.. The ceremony is open to all her family and friends. The cemetery requires that we arrive 10 minutes prior to 2 PM.
