MaryAnn Barbazette Obituary

MaryAnn Elise Barbazette

May 3rd, 1943 – September 27th, 2019

MaryAnn, also known to many as Nanny, passed away on Friday September 27th 2019 on her way back from a beautiful vacation to the beach with her husband.

MaryAnn is survived by her husband; Steve, two daughters Lori and Julie, sister Sharon, numerous nieces and nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

MaryAnn did not always live in Washington. She met her husband in Maryland and it was not until her grandchildren were born that she moved across the country to be closer to them. She wanted to be close so that her grandchildren grew up knowing her. Every single holiday she was there. From birthday parties where she was the keeper of the singing candle, to New Years Eve celebrations with confetti and balloons falling from the ceiling, she was a part of it all.

She was passionate in everything that she did.  MaryAnn loved being out in nature, it did not matter if it was in the forest or on the beach. She was co-owner of Blitz & Co. Florist of Tacoma as she was passionate about plants, flowers and all things sparkly. When she would go shopping it was impossible to pass a nursery without stopping, unless we promised to stop on our way back home. Another one of her passions was animals, be it her own pets or wildlife. Kitty, Ocean, Shadow and Willow were her life. They adored her and she spoiled them constantly. The wildlife was spoiled as well. We always had to make sure that there was food for the birds and the squirrels, as well as the more unique animals such as the possum and raccoons that lived by the deck. Even when feeding the squirrels meant them digging up the plants to hide their stash, MaryAnn still loved them.

It was the little things in life that kept her going, the military airplanes that would sometimes fly overhead, watching the squirrels hang upside down to take the birdseed, or waiting up at night while her grandchildren slept over just to try to get a glimpse of the possum or raccoons as they crept out of hiding for the food they knew would always be there.

We will miss and love you forever.

May you rest in pain free peace
