It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Patricia (Patty) Ellen Narath; our loving and devoted Wife, Mother, Nana, and friend to all whose lives she touched on November 29th, 2020.
Patty was a fighter, surviving both a pituitary tumor and breast cancer. She fought her failing liver for over 8 years and Lewy Body dementia for the last year. She took her last breath with her very best friend Vicki Little and her youngest daughter Amy holding her hand by her side in her home.
Born to the late Jack and Lois Kirwin on June 30th, 1950 in Portland, Oregon. She moved with her family at a young age to Southern California, where she stayed until after she graduated from San Clemente High School in 1968 and completed Beauty School in 1969. Shortly after graduating she moved to Japan and married her husband Danny. They lived in Japan for a short while until returning to California where she had her first daughter, Lisa. In 1974 she relocated to Port Orchard, WA where she had two more daughters and remained there until she and Danny built their dream home in Olalla, WA.
Patty is survived by her husband Danny after 51 years of marriage and her 3 daughters; Lisa (and Gary) Rogers, Naples, Italy; Hollie Narath, Amy (and Willie) Sutton, and her only granddaughter Hailee Rose Sutton, all of Olalla, Washington.
Patty is also leaving behind 3 sisters and 1 brother; John Kirwin; Kathy (and Jerry) Sill, San Clemente, California; Jeanne (and John) Sands, Henderson, Nevada; and Laura (and Todd) Thompson, Island of Hawaii. Also, many more nieces, nephews, cousins, and so many fantastic friends.
Over the years she held various occupations; she owned and operated a home-based day care business, a very successful house-cleaning business and most importantly a wife, mom, and caretaker. Throughout the years she was selfless and took in many children that were in need through the foster care system and through respite care. Due to her own experience with disabled children, she understood the need for care and support.
Patty was a great cook and used to love to cook meals for the family. She especially loved baking cookies during the holidays. She was a great seamstress back in the early days, often making her oldest daughters clothes back when it was considered ‘cool’ to make clothes. She loved attending horse events with her daughter Amy and was her biggest cheerleader. She was also an avid shopper and when she could no longer drive, she loved the home shopping channels!
She also loved spending time with the people she loved, and one of her favorite things to do was spending time with her friends. She had a tight-knit group of friends that she would often get together with to play games, go on camping trips, painting, or just spending the holidays together.
Patty is deeply loved by her family and friends and will be deeply missed.
Services will be held Thursday, December 10th, 2020 at the Haven of Rest Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 8503 State Route-16 NW, Gig Harbor, WA 98332.
