Phyllis Jardin passed away on August 11, 2020. She was a devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister and Friend. She loved and cared for others with all her energy and made everyone around her feel cared for.
She lived in Lake Holiday for 40+ years. Phyllis was a dedicated volunteer. If it involved kids, she was ready to do what she could to make it happen and to make it special. Organizing Easter egg hunts at the clubhouse back when real eggs were used, we remember her boiling large pots of dozens of eggs and getting them all dyed and ready to be hidden. She was also a longtime volunteer at the annual fishing derby. Phyllis did all the grocery shopping and ran the kitchen. She was always down at the clubhouse bright and early to have the coffee, donuts and other breakfast foods and drinks ready for the fishermen. Phyllis also ran the bingo game at the clubhouse, doing the shopping for the blackout prizes and drinks and snacks. Phyllis loved being a lunch lady at Vaughn Elementary.
Phyllis did so much she was even nominated for Key Peninsula’s Citizen of the Year twice.
Once moving to assisted living, Phyllis started helping with social events at her new place and loved to participate with Bingo, Crafts and Reader’s Theater. Phyllis was always willing to welcome new residents and help them feel comfortable. Phyllis continued to attend a Red Hats lunch once a month with her friends.
Phyllis was always a prayer warrior and often prayed for others. Her love of God was a light that shined through her.
Due to gathering restrictions her family will be waiting until hopefully the spring for a memorial.
Phyllis loved to feed others! She was thoughtful and helpful to everyone but made the biggest impact to students and families on the Key Peninsula. If you would like to contribute in her name, please donate to Key Peninsula Community Services.
